While at was at work today, I received a text message from Tess informing me that there was a guy who had been standing outside of our apartment door for about 30 minutes continuously knocking on the door and that she called 9-1-1. So I told her to call me and give me the details of what happened.
Apparently what happened was, some dude was standing outside of the door knocking and whenever Tess would ask, "Who is it?" he would simply not answer. She looked through the peephole a few times and noticed that he was a fair-skinned guy with a black hoodie on. Well after he saw her peer through the peephole a few times, he would place his hand in front of it to block her view. This guy had to have been out of his mind standing out there for such a long time. So she went to our other door which has a peephole as well and noticed that she couldn't see out of that one as it was covered by a piece of paper.(Apparently one of those fliers that the local restaurants attach to your door. This was pretty scary.
So the cops finally arrive and Tess gives her a description of the guy and they tell her that someone who fit that description was walking out of the hall as they were entering from the opposite end. Since the operator didn't ask Tess for a description of the man, they officers didn't know beforehand who they needed to look for. They also informed her that another one of the apartment doors that they past also had fliers in front of the peepholes. That was pretty interesting to me. The officers told her that they would continue to hang around the complex for the rest of the evening.
When i finally arrived home, I walked around to some of the nearby units to find out if the doors also had fliers in front of the peepholes. What I noticed is that someone had rolled the fliers up and placed them inside of the handle of the doorknockers, thereby obstructing the peephole. Normally, they just roll up the flier and fit it between the door handle and the side post of the door. I don't know, but it as pretty scary all the same. I'm just glad Tess didn't open the door. It might be a good idea to just not make her presence known if someone unexpected knocks on the door again.
For what I've heard and mainly seen on shows like Law & Order, you have crazy people with crazy minds who sit at home trying to quell that evil thing within. It then gets the best of them and they go out and take risks that they would normally take more time to calculate with the intention of hurting someone. What a crazy world we live in!!
It kind of leaves me with this question? I know that there are wide angle peepholes that allow you to see a larger perspective of view, but are there peepholes that don't allow the person outside the door, notice that you have placed your big head in front of the peephole to look out of it?
Father, send your angels to encamp around our complex and protect us from those who wish to do us harm. Keep us mindful of ways to remain safe, yet have us to not live in fear for you are our defense and our shield. Make us careful without being anxious. If this guy has a hardened heart, help him to see your light, but whatever means you see fit. Tenderize his heart with your mighty hand ... :o), or help him to see your way with a gentle, loving reminder. Whatever it takes to bring about the best results for his sake. But, in the meantime, separate him from those that he could do harm.
Amen,
