9 Month Check-Up

We arrive at Dr. Siebert's office on yesterday afternoon to make sure our Madison is growing well and meeting all of her milestones and to get further instruction on what needs to be done in the next 3 months. As usual, we only have to wait in the waiting room for a short moment before we are called back.

In the meantime, I look over at the pile of huge Lego just to the right of us. For a split second, I think about taking Madison over to play with everything, but that quickly became an afterthought. There's no telling what might be festering over there. I know it's a Dr's office and all, but you can never be too careful. She gets tons of runny noses on the day that she goes to day care.
We quickly find out that Madison is only up to 17 pounds, which is normal. I was for sure she had reached the 20 lb. mark because she's starting to feel really heavy. Then the nurse starts talking about percentiles and stuff that I don't really care much about unless it's bad news. So I hear 25th Percentile this and and 25th Percentile that. You have to ask Tess if you want to know specifics. Whatever the case, Madison herself seemed to be pleased with the results as she scanned her stats.

Dr. Siebert finally pops in and Madison starts trying to charm her by showing off her Flower Power binky attachment. I think she's really trying to talk her way out of getting a shot. Little does she know, she will only be getting her finger pricked today.

Of course, you have to get those ears and throat checked.

After all was said and done the results were so good that it'll make you wanna slap yo mama. And guess what, Madison did. She put a haymaker on mommy...lol. I mean, she hit her so quick that she didn't even feel it. Needless to say, we really need to get this hitting thing that she does under control. Just waiting until she truly understands what she's doing. I see a wooden spoon in her future.

Madison got her finger pricked to check her Hemoglobin levels. She scored an 11.7. Anything above an 11 is good. How did I remember that? Anyway, she didn't even cry. I was for sure that she would have made at least a peep. None at all. She's a pretty tough kid.
So with that, this is what we walked away with:
  • Begin to introduce her to to whole milk around 2 weeks from her first birthday
  • Table food is okay (Sorry grandparents....still no chicken bones to gnaw on)
  • Sunscreen is a must
  • Make sure home is child-proof ( whatever that really means )
  • No eggs, seafood or peanut butter
  • She can take up to 1/2 tsp of Benadryl for her Eczema
  • Let her sleep in her own room ( she currently sleeps in her own bed in our room)
  • Let her cry it out to put herself to sleep at bedtime . Try it out for a week to attempt to regulate her nighttime sleeping. ( Tess doesn't like this one...)

Well that's it. We'll see Dr. Siebert in 3 months where Madison will have not 1, not 2, not 3, but 4 shots waiting on her. Geez. Lord help us.

Thank you Father for a healthy baby girl. Help us to be alert at all times to ensure her safety as she becomes more active. Help us to stay mindful about what we allow her ears to hear and how we treat her. Help us to be patient as we teach her to be obedient and help us to be a living representation of you in all that we do. May we be ever mindful to not worship the gift of a child, but to worship the giver of the gift and by doing that, everything falls into place perfectly. Amen.

She did not put nothing on me, she know who runs this show. She is not getting table food until I feel that she is ready, and as far as her moving into her own room, that is not happening righ now either. Sorry doc, only a few things at a time. And sorry grandparents who want to feed her food, mommy runs this camp. SO with that said, everything stays the same. Something else for mommy and daddy to fight about.
