The Thrill of JaVictory!!!

Praise God from whom all Blessings Flow!!!

Malachi 3:10

Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the LORD of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it.

For the last few posts, you've heard me lamenting the fact that I need a permanent job ... with benefits. Well God has provided and again proven himself faithful to me and my family.

God is so amazing, steady and unchanging!!!

After finding out at the end of last year that my job at CompUSA would be no more, I had to re-evaluate my career goals. So I decided to go into programming and take some classes at the local community college. At the advice of my uncle, I decided to take a Java class along with an assortment of other classes to get a Level 1 Programming Certification.

This is where it gets good!

In the meantime, God was preparing me for what was next in my career. I decided to take a temp assignment at a healthcare supplies contracting company with hopes of being hired on permanently. I applied for a few jobs and even got a couple of interviews. Somehow or another, the jobs that I interviewed for kept getting frozen. But all the while I continued to remain positive, fully believing that I was going to get a call.

Surprise!!

I found out at the end of April the Mrs. Jones is 5 months pregnant. I was filled with so much joy in knowing that baby Madison was on her way. At the same time, I was met with another dilemma.... I still needed a permanent job, especially if I planned on spending a week or so WITH PAY after she was born. Man was I scared.

UH OH! Surprise Again!!

What in the world!!! How could this have happened!!! We received a letter in the mail that our COBRA insurance was being terminated and that we needed to make a decision on a new healthcare provider that was twice the cost of our previous COBRA insurance provider. It would be impossible to afford it. Now I was getting pretty desperate. Tess already had Medicare so that took some of the burden off of us. So, we had to find insurance that was going to cover me. We found a healthplan that was considerable cheaper, but only covered about 1/2 the cost of most dr.'s appointments and hospital care.

If there is no sign,
keep this in mind,
He'll Show Up on Time!!!

I have a coworker at my temp job whose girlfriend is a programmer at a tiny agency not far from where we used to live before we moved to Los Colinas. They happen to be looking for an entry-level programmer that they can develop to assist them with they day-to-day tasks. Well hey, I've learned quite a bit within the last 6 months between my independent studies along with the courses I've taken. She asks if I'd be interested in applying for the position and of course I agree. So I sent my resume to the company on Thursday, got called for an interview on the same day. I had my initial interview on Friday and met with the owner of the company the following Monday after the weekend. I was offered the position on Monday and of course I accepted.

Thank You Father!!

I now have a career. What I thought would take me at least 18 months to 2 years, God did for me in only 6 short months. Specifically, this is what I got:

  • 10K more than what I was making at CompUSA
  • 100% Tuition Reimbursement - Using it right away
  • JavaSurance - Yeah!! - Begins day 1 and is about $200 per month cheaper than what I was paying for at CompUSA
  • Bank Holidays - always a + - Never had MLK day off before along with my Birthday
  • 10 paid vacation days - increases by one day for each year with the company
  • Increase after 90 days with the company
  • People I can glean information from
  • Experience
  • A beautiful baby girl on the way
  • AND more proof that GOD IS Faithful and that He is the great Orchestrator of our lives
So now I have a new problem!! :o)
What do I do with all this stuff?
saith the LORD of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it.
