7:00 AM - Tess wakes me up balled up in the bed on her knees and tells me that for the last couple of hours, she's been feeling this pain that comes and goes in her back and pelvis, along with a feeling of having to go potty. So, I ask her if she feels like she's having contractions. She says, "No". So I rhetorically ask her if she knows what contractions feel like. And of course, again she says, "No". So I attempt to go back to sleep because I can't. Not because I'm not sleepy, but anticipation starts to build inside of me. I go online to try to help her figure out if she's actually having contractions and how to time them.

10:00 AM - The CONTRACTIONS are coming about 6 - 8 minutes apart. So about 10:30 we decided to head out to the hospital. What a beautiful morning it was.

10:45 - So we finally were getting close to the hospital but the contractions had suddenly stoppped. So we just went past the hospital to Tess' moms house which is closer to her side of town.

11:00 AM - We arrive at her mom's house until the contraction returned and were more consistent. We thought that in just a few short hours we would be going back to the hospitial, BUT.....

9:00 PM - About 10 hours later..... She was really feeling the pain. Contractions were about 7 minutes apart. It took us about 10 minutes to get out of the door because,

  1. She had to go back inside for a quick bio break

  2. Another contraction came and we had to ride it out for about 2 minutes

9:40 PM - We finally arrive and man, is she hurtin'!

Walking into the hospital

"Get me an epidural, Please!!!".

11:15 - Myself and Vanessa (Tess' Mom) have been waiting in the hall for about 1.5 hours and we are restless and worried about why the nurses have not told us to come back yet. And finally, they tell us to come back. We're excited and little ticked that it took so long. And then HORROR. We find out that Tess was 4 cm dilated when she was first examined and that in a span of 15 minutes, she was 9 cm. This is something that rarely happens with first time moms. So as a result, she could not receive an epidural. She was so afraid and admittedly so were we, but we knew should could do it, even though she didn't think she could. By this time, she was about 15 minutes away from being able to push. The baby dr. was on her way from home.

So here she is. I present to you....

And in this corner, weighing in at 5 Pounds, 14 ounces. Born on September, 14th 2008 at 11:48 PM. The Undisputed Love of our Life.

Isn't it amazing how much I look like my daddy when he was a baby? We have the same little cone head.
