SenTess Jones Anniversary XI

Seneca & Latessia Jones

1997 - 2008

On Friday, December 5th, Tess and I celebrated our 11th Anniversary. It feels kind of like a new beginning. Madison is here to help us kick off our new decade together. I really look forward to many more years of love and growth for our marriage. Here's what we did.

We decided that it was time for family portraits. Earlier in the week we scheduled a session at JCPenney. After a tiring 20 minutes of picture taking, our little diva was out like a light. My photoshop skills really need some help, but i decided to post this picture anyway. Madison does this new thing where she has to clutch your thumb and any available fingers on the opposite side of the bottle. Tess' mom was nice enough to come out to our apartment to look after Madison while we celebrated. We reserved a room at the new Aloft Hotel in Plano. This is a pretty snazzy place and it's the cheapest hotel room that we've ever reserved. Only $79.00 a night. We saw this sign in front of the building and wondered what it meant. Aloft is owned by Starwood. The same people who manage the "W".Going down the hall to our room. Here's a picture that I took of the sun setting outside of our window.
Here's the pool, which no one would be using in this frigid Texas weather. Is that an oxymoron or what? Here's me chillin' before we headed out to dinner. Here's the bathroom. Really nice room, very small, but still worth the price, I think.Their version of a closet. Unfortunately, I waited until the last minute to reserve the room, so we had to settle for a double queen room instead of a king. Oh well!!! Notice the "cowhide" on the wall. So very Texas, huh. Here's my love, looking fabulous. This is me getting photoshop right. I've always wanted to take this type of photo. Finally got my chance. I'm considering this for our official 11th anniversary photograph. So we were off to officially start our evening. The "lift" was pretty cool on the inside. That's what the receptionists call the elevator which is really an elevator and not a lift. On the floor of the "lift", they had this little watery pad that moved blue water around as you placed your weight on it.Going down to the 1st floor. So we finally arrived at Sambuca for our 7 o'clock dinner. Tess ordered the Petite Filet with mashed potatoes and a bunch of vegetables that I knew she wasn't going to eat. We also ordered a side of the Mac & Cheese with Proscuitto (I think that's how you spell it.) I ordered the Drunken Pot Roast. Soooo Good!!! By the way, it was WAY too dark in Sambuca. The only way I knew what our food looked like was to view the pictures that we took. It was like Russian Roulet trying to figure out whether I was stuffing roast or potatoes into my mouth, yet each bite was a pleasant surprise. There was a band there, "Domino Effect", who entertained us with covers of some of the many popular songs of the past like Somkey Robinson's Cruisin', Maxwell's Ascension, a Stevie Wonder song that escapes my memory and a little bit of Chaka Khan. One of the funniest things is that I noticed was one of the ladies that I currently work with, but I quickly dismissed her face for belonging to someone else. Then I noticed someone else who works with me. Tess then asked if I recognized anybody else standing with a fairly large group of people to the left of us. My guess is that there was some type of Christmas party going on for either our parent company or one of our many sub divisions.

Anyway, since we weren't satisfied with any of the desserts that Sambuca offered, we decided to call good ole' Truluck's for our favorite all time cakes. A Chocolate Cake and a Carrot Cake that usually takes about 3 days to consume.Hey, I just noticed that I forgot to take pictures of the cakes, but here we are picking up the cakes from the bar. We remembered that we forgot to bring some toothpaste with us to the hotel. So, we decided to make a stop at the Super Target before heading back to the hotel. On the way back to the hotel, out the corner of my eye i saw some purple lights and water. I just had to turn around and find out what it was. It was a very nice waterfall (Is that was you call these things?) located behind the Shops at Legacy townhomes and restaurants. We finally made get back and I decided to take a picture of the hotel logo that was emitted on the floor from the ceiling. This pretty much ended our evening ;o) The next morning I woke up and headed to Starbuck's to get some coffee. Man, the line was soo long. This was definitely the largest Starbuck's I've ever been to. Most of them are pretty cramped. We had to be out of the hotel by 12:00pm and we were ready to get back home to our little munchkin.

So we took one more picture in the "Lift" and checked out. We had a great time. Only if we could have this much fun again next year. BTW, we get our family pictures back from JCPenny on Thursday. I'll be sure to post them sometime thereafter.
