You know, we always thought that once we got Misses Jones to sleep through the night, IN HER OWN BED, that all of our late night worries were over.....FOREVER.
Man were we WRONG. When we came back from DC a couple of weeks ago, we had to go right out and get a toddler bed because our little one decided to make climbing out of her crib a habit that wasn't at all safe.
Every night we spend at least 20 minutes sitting in her doorway because once we tuck her in bed, she tells us to, "Sit!". Sometimes she can't quite make out our silhouette and walks over to us and we promptly walk her back to her bed and tell her goodnight. The first 3 nights were a task, but the results of each night were improving.
Night #1 we placed her back in her bed 24 times... Night #2, only half as many times. Night #3 she woke up and got out of her bed only 3 times for the rest of the night. This is pretty much the same pattern that occurred when we moved her crib out of our room and into her own.
Well, this ain't been that easy. For the past two weeks, this toddler bed thing has been a HUGE challenge. Colletively, Tess and I have lost countless hours of sleep. Well put her back in her bed, sit on the floor and move further and further away out of her site with the assumption that she's fallen asleep. Then, after we've crept back to bed, we hear the pitter patter of footsteps heading to our bedroom. And then, BOOM! our bedroom door comes flying open and Misses Jones climbs onto Tess back...lol! Sometimes she'll greet us with a very sweet, "Hi!" or "Eat, Eat!"
Last night, she got out of her bed multiple times almost every hour throughout the night. This was probably contributed by the fact that she took quite nap mid-day. We are soooo tired this morning and feel somewhat defeated. When we're fed up and are at our wits end, we even threaten her with our trusty spoon. That doesn't work. God help this little girl sleep through the night again.
We truly understand why some parents give up and give in to their children and let them sleep in their beds or rooms until their too old to do so. We decided a long time ago that we like only two people in our bed at a time. Three is certainly a crowd. I'll keep you updated on the progress that we and our little one are making as we try new methods to get our daughter through this challenge.

Oh me Oh my.....24 times!??! Whew....we are definitely putting this milestone off until Abigirl doesn't fit into the crib any longer. :)
Hi there! We are having some toddler bed troubles too. Boyd goes down so well, but he is up way too early because he has that freedom now. We should have kept our crib up longer, he was not crawling out.
I wish you lots of luck and feel your pain!!!!
