Why I Need A Faster Lens

Well, I've been fooling around about trying to work with natural light without flash. Bright natural light isn't a problem. But, what about those times when you don't have enough light to slow down motion. Then you have to use slower shutter speeds, higher ISO's a lower aperture or a combination of the 3. Low to medium light shooting doesn't work so well with small children. They just move around too much. See the pic above? Probably would have been one of the cutest pictures she's ever taken. Hopefully when finances are looking better I can purchase me a lens that allows me to shoot sharper images at faster shutter speeds in lower light. I would love to purchase the 50mm f/1.8 Nikkor prime lens. It's pretty cheap at less than $175, but the problem is it won't autofocus on my camera. I would have to manually focus the lens and look for the little green light that tells me that my subject is in focus.

Honestly, I could save that amount and then some and get the zoom lens I really want.

That is a cute picture! I have many like that, where I wish they were just a little sharper though. I love my Tamron lens, it works well with motion and natural light. Although, I can rarely get good pictures of Boyd inside the house, period.
