Jason Kidd and the Fountain of Youth!!!

I remember when we got Jason Kidd back to the Dallas Mavericks right before the trade deadline in 2008. It really seemed that the trade wasn't panning out all too well. The Mavs went to the playoffs that year and got schooled in the 2nd round by Chris Paul and the New Orleans Hornets. I distinctively remember Jason Kidd looking old. He'd miss wide open shots and would seldom attack the basket and sometimes he'd over-pass by passing up wide open lay-ups. I really 2nd guessed Mavs ownership by questioning why we decided to resign him over the summer. Well it looks like that decision to keep him is really paying off. Kidd is the type of point guard that excels when he has the right pieces around him to complement his skills.

Since the beginning of the year, he has done nothing but make everyone on the team better. And since the acquisition of Caron Butler, Brendan Haywood and DeShawn Stevenson the team has been rolling. Brendan Haywood came at just the right time since Erick Dampier was injured. BTW, even after Erick Dampier returns, Brendan Haywood should be the starter. He's a much better player than Dampier. Dampier however, is a great option at backup center. The Mavs will be tough to beat come playoff time if both of those guys are healthy.

Anyway, Kidd has probably been the best player on the floor, yes even better than Dirk for the last 6 games. Dirk nor Kidd are as good as they are without each other, so I'm not saying the Kidd is better than Dirk. During this latest winning streak, Kidd has averaged 15 Points, 3 Steals, 11 Assists and 7.5 rebounds per game. This dude is ballin'. Heck, he's hitting 3's at a clip of 44%. Most of these have been timely baskets that come late in the fourth quarter.

Honestly, I can't wait until the playoffs.

Check out one of the smartest plays I have ever seen a player make since I've been watching basketball.

Now you KNOW that I'm a big, crazy fanatic of Jason Kidd's & I'm amazed how physical he's kept it for ALL these years.

Compare him to anyone that played in the early Dallas Maverick years & they seem almost non-existant, but he just keeps getting better & better.
